Board of Directors -
The New London Theatre is always interested in bringing in fresh faces to help. If you are intested in becoming a part of the Board of Directors or if you would like to assist in any way, please contact any board member or email us at information@newlondontheatre.org.
Dawn Berlo has been with New London Theatre for over two years. Her background includes being the backstage coordinator for a ballet company for over eight years. She loves NLT for everything that it has to offer the community and wants to help it grow in all ways possible. She took the stage for the first time since high school (a million years ago) in "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" as Helena Landless. She has enjoyed every moment she's been allowed to help with the theatre. It's been a wonderful family bonding experience for her as her daughter has been in a few plays and her husband John is also on the board. It's become quite the family affair! Her goals for the theatre are to help bring more Arts to Gwinnett and the surrounding counties and more people in to the theatre so that New London will become a household name!!!
John was born the son of a poor sharecropper. After walking uphill, both ways, in 90 degree heat through 2 feet of snow, he realized that all the world truly was a stage and he wanted to be on it. In school, he participated in such shows as "Bye Bye Birdie", "Grease" and "The Impossible Years". Even in his jobs as a teenager, he found a way to bring entertainment to his workplace by teaching and doing demonstrations at the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa and even wrote the company song for the performance-oriented candy store The Fudgery. Now, by day as a mild-mannered IT geek, he plotted and planned to get back on that stage. Once introduced to New London Theatre, he knew it was time. First in "Drood", next in "12 Angry Jurors", then on to produce our other musicals, he finally found his artistic outlet. He also enjoys expressing his other talents as the head of Marketing and Publicity. His goals for NLT? To spread the word and do what he can to involve more people and provide the best entertainment in the area.
Lorie Behret - Treasurer
Lorie began her career with New London Theatre when her children were in the 10th Anniversary edition of "Charlotte's Web" as a parent just helping out. Today she is a stay at home mom but has a background in sales and accounting. Her first appearance onstage will be as Auntie Em in "The Wizard of Oz". She loves that New London is something the whole family can do together.
Mike Twiggs - Activities
Mike has been involved with NLT since 2008 and has received many "rave reviews", most of which were written by himself. He has been working with various community theaters in metro Atlanta for almost thirty years, both on stage and backstage. What he finds most rewarding about theater is when he gets to work with his wife and daughters (but cannot verify if they feel the same way). Besides writing about himself in the third person, Mike also enjoys working with Girl Scouts with his wife and daughters (the same ones mentioned earlier). Among his favorite volunteer projects every year are Operation Christmas Child and The Lilburn Girl Scout Day Camp, where he gets to teach youngsters everything from mediocre yoyo tricks to making marshmallow guns.
What impresses Mike the most about New London Theatre is that it is a "community theater" that literally welcomes input and help from the entire community. Aside from that, it is the perfect place for the entire family to learn about and experience the joys of live theater.
